negiyaki time!

so day three in japan! i might have to be skimpy with the photos since my crappy computer has almost no memory space left, must go to the electronic shop and get a memory card/stick?

anywho did i ever show you my gold fish? i won these guys at a festival last time i was here which was, when i look at my passport, on '07!

so now you all know, if you take good care of those feeder fish they sell at the pet stores, they become big and have madddd babies. i tried taking a photo of the baby fish but it just looks like an empty tank filled with water. just trust me.

ooooooh snap! animal planet time!!!!!

we are family
this is the cat family i have been trying to lure into my posse. i have so far pet 2/3 cats. it seems that the white cat is the dad, the dark stripy is the mom and the little one is the baby.

they just hang out in the parking lot under my uncles car

purrrrese dont touch me

this is the little one. hes a bit shy and always runs away

still working on this challenge

so i thought i had more animal photos... but i guess not. lets get to the ossimo food photos yeah???
cut and eat

this is how it is out here! super fresh fish, you buy, you sashimi and you eat! food out here is mega bomb!
just eat

why is octopus in NY so expensive?? we can like buy this and have a takoyaki party every day!

that reminds me... we didnt have takoyaki/ okonomiyaki party this year

i must be slacking

better than kobe beef
this is some sort of crazy baller status beef. look at that color! look at the marble!

im told that this right here is like mega butter.

does anyone wanna come over to have a baller beef party?

i miss my office mate...

yakitori time

next we have the yakitori section. so you just choose the ones that you want and pay. i think they only do this here, but even this stuff is better than back home.

OMG my yakitori guy closed his shop! i dont know what to do now. im going through a major dilemma!

i have been substituting with this stuff for the time being while i find another hole in the wall.

this sections kindda cool.

onigiri (rice balls) every flavor every color

yummmmmm!

uber lame

and my super favorite, fried food section!!!

la la la i am so happy!

but i am super lame for taking this photo. everyone around was like this girl is crazy! who takes photos infront of fried food?

thats right i do! i heart croquettes, and tonkatsu and kara-age <3

popular everywhere

omg am i the only one that finds this funny? this is like asian version of snuggie, no?

my uncle was like why dont you get this, it makes so much sense when you sit in front of the TV.

i dont watch TV..... ill pass

translation...

this is todays man hole cover. i like this one, i think its super cute.

reminds me of leo, hope your doing ok!

just posing!
so ive been feeling really lazy since all ive been doing is eating. so i went to the local climbing gym in my hood.

i can say this one was a lot better than the one in vietnam. i made the 3 guys behind me my BF's and i told them to come visit me in NY. the one in white was really good, but there was this old dude that was really really good. to shy to try to make him my BF, international BF rules are a little different.

and how did i do? no excuses, im weak! must get in ripped shape!

ewww who goes to the gym on their vacation anyway? lets get to more food photos!!

so after the gym i went to a street fair. my aunt helps out or is part of the group that gets young kids to try different things.

so these kids were making negiyaki. its like a scallion buritto? maybe more like a scallion soft shell taco? idk you figure it out yourself.

i wanted to try to make this so i had these kids tell me what to do

i have no idea what these kids are doing

so first you pour some batter on the hot plate like a crepe. not too much or its not delicious. maybe this thing is like a scallion crepe!

there we go!

now i try

after you put the batter down then you gotta rush and put everything else in.

1-scallions (lots)
2-fish cake (kamaboko)
3-fried flakes (ten-kasu)
4-bonito flakes
5-seasoning

i had the kids help me cus i was taking my sweet time, well no i didnt ask for help, they just decided i needed it. thanks guys! team work!

is this right?

then you fold both sides over, you dont leave it on the hot plate for very long, once you put the stuff down you just fold over. i guess the batter part is kindda hot so it steams everything on the inside when you let it sit for a bit.

peaaaaaacccceeee!!!!

voila!

my first negiyaki!!!! im like so happy! who cares if i left half the batter on the pan. check it out yo!

im way impressed with myself!

im thinking of bringing these kids back with me to start a negiyaki place downtown.

doesnt this look delicious? dont you want to try??

negiyaki!

ohhhh also this is for justin:
i think i found what your looking for only its blue....
if you want this let me know.

i asked if they have the purple one but they looked at me like i was crazy.

also they have other stuff so just keep sending me a list and ill keep an eye out for it.

but check out jumbo kapibara!

ok so ill leave the post at this. next post ill show you all how to have a japanese breakfast! yippie

this is me and my grandma! shes old, but hearts yakiniku!! <3
